Our Story

In 2002, Vivienne — a Frenchwoman who had fallen in love with Morocco — discovered a traditional riad in the old Douar Graoua quarter of the Medina. What drew her in was the grand patio, vast and open to the sky, with its fountain and the scent of orange blossoms. She saw more than walls and tiles — she saw a home. She restored it faithfully, piece by piece, in the tradition of Marrakchi craftsmanship, choosing every piece of wood, every wrought-iron detail, every shade of colour with the same quiet care.

Then she opened its doors — not as a hotel, but as a guesthouse where travelers could feel what she felt: the peace of a real Marrakech home. Vivienne passed away in 2025, but her spirit lives in every corner of Massiba. Today, her children continue what she built, alongside Ahmed and Soumia, who have been part of this house for years. The welcome is the same. The care is the same. The home is still hers — and still yours to share.

A Place Shaped by Time

Over two decades, Riad Massiba has welcomed guests from all over the world. Some come once, many come back. What they remember is not luxury — it is the feeling of being somewhere real. The quiet of the patio after a day in the souks. Soumia's breakfast on the terrace. A mint tea at sunset with the Atlas in the distance. That is what Massiba is, and what it will remain.
